CBS is planning to create a new Star Trek series.

Fans of Star Trek circa 2009, best steer clear of this post. I am not a fan of that movie.

I really wish I could bring myself to care. Really, I do. After the Nu!Track disaster of 2009, I cannot bring myself to give two claws about it. I am fully aware that I am a glass is half empty type of bird--Expect the worst, and most of the time, you won't be disappointed.

If I decided to care and get excited about a new Star Trek series, I know I would feel the same sort of disappointment (that's putting it lightly) I felt after I watched Nu!Track. I have yet to see Nu!Track into Draknezz (just to give you an idea of how much I "adore" Nu!Track).

I figure if I assume the worst, I'm not going to miss anything and won't give a damn how it goes. I'm sure it will have a decent audience and will do just fine without me. Of course, there is a chance that it might be a damned good show, which brings me to my next point...

The new program will be the first original series developed specifically for U.S. audiences for CBS All Access, a cross-platform streaming service that brings viewers thousands of episodes from CBS’s current and past seasons on demand, plus the ability to stream their local CBS Television station live for $5.99 per month. CBS All Access already offers every episode of all previous “Star Trek” television series. - Quote taken from Trek Core

Thanks, but no thanks.

I think I touched on this in my Anovos post, so I'll refrain from commenting on the bolded bit.

As much as I want the new series to be something awesome that goes back to the true roots of Star Trek, I'm not getting my hopes up and am going to shrug it off until the show actually comes out--that is, if I get my hands on an episode. Until then, I just don't care. I may ogle at the costumes and sets when pictures start getting released of them, but costumes and props are only part of what makes a show worth watching.
